I’m in love with the often profound and bombastic prose of Kanye West.   Kayne is a brilliant contemporary poet, disgusised in slick beats and classic samples. One of his latest songs “Homecoming”, touched me deeply in a moment of personal reflection.  This song is just another fine example how Kanye uses creative dialog, metaphors and analogies to pronounce the love of his hometown (and mine), Chicago.  I couldn’t have articulated that feeling better than he has here in  disturbingly familiar words, rhythm and visual presentation. The Ring House: Japan
January 27, 2008

ring house

This amazing home, located in the Japanese countryside, was designed by TNA architects and completed in 2006. Surrounded by thick vegetation, The house serves as a weekend house for the owners and respite from the city. I imagine that the 360° views the home affords it’s owners must elevate them into a Zen-like state. Damn, I could soooo imagine such a retreat for myself. I’m a huge nature and architecture buff, so the fusion of the two would just make my brain explode. I love Asian aesthetics, specifically Japanese design sensibilities.

It would be like living in a spa. I wish I had an environment like this to escape to, meditate and be creative in my own little cocoon. Well, one of these days…. I have a collection of drawings and plans that I have done myself for unique home designs that I hope to build one day and share with someone special…

2009 BMW x6

Anyone that knows me knows that I’m a total design, technology and car freak. So, Imagine my excitement when I learned that the all-new 2009 BMW X6 combines all the elements. Its supposed to be a “four-door SUV coupe” (whatever). Think Touareg-Cayenne-FX45-Meets M3 on crack with every new technology available. You better believe I’m saving my lunch money for this bad boy that’s supposed to come out in the fall of 2008. It even comes in an Active Hybrid gas-electric model for around $65 large. Ohhhh, if there is a God I’ll have one of these beauties by this time next year. Can someone pass me a tissue, please….

Music: Shape of My Heart
November 6, 2007

I’ve been listening to this song a lot lately…
This is an old (1993) song by Sting that I love called “Shape of My Heart”. Of course the guy is timeless, so the song sounds as fresh and thought provoking as anything I’ve heard in a while. The lyrics are below–take pause and savor this song. Also, if you click the “Read the rest of this entry »” link after the lyrics, there is a second video of some cool card trickery in sync with the  lyrics of the song…

He deals the cards as a meditation,
And those he plays never suspect.
He doesn’t play for the money he wins,
He doesn’t play for the respect.

He deals the cards to find the answer
The sacred geometry of chance.
The hidden law of probable outcome
The numbers lead a dance…

I know that the spades are the swords of a soldier,
I know that the clubs are weapons of war,
I know that diamonds mean money for this art,
But thats not the shape of my heart…

He may play the jack of diamonds,
He may lay the queen of spades,
He may conceal a king in his hand,
While the memory of it fades…

Repeat Chorus (above)

And if I told you that I loved you,
Youd maybe think there’s something wrong.
Im not a man of too many faces,
The mask I wear is one.

Those who speak know nothing,
And find out to their cost,
Like those who curse their luck in too many places,
And those who fear are lost.

Repeat Chorus (above)
